For a decadent evening look, opt for this feathered mini dress — a take on one of this season’s hottest trends — from discount chain Forever 21. This is so cute! Our fashion editor, Suzanne Marchese, found this amazing feathered skirt dress while she was combing through the racks at Forever 21. And it’s a draw-dropping $59.00! A budget-friendly spin on Marchesa, the celebrity red carpet gown favorite, the dress has a touch of Vegas that makes a strong statement. It’s best to stick with one key piece of jewelry as an accessory. Forever 21’s version has convertible adjustable spaghetti straps, a cinched bust and side zipper closure.

Designer Max Azria Debuts Online Discount Boutique - UsMagazine.com

I am a fashionista and I like a price break every once in a while. I was cruising the BCBG site and found that that they have a little trend corner called Final Cut where all the end of season dresses, separates and accessories go. I found this super cute dress that’s been marked down from $348 to $174! But if color-blocked cobalt ain’t your thing, check out their multi-tiered strapless party dress marked down from $238 to $119. Sizes are limited, but I have to say, there is stuff to be had at this site.

Check out the Max Azria Final Cut Corner here.

Celebs like Demi Lovato, Kristin Bell, Angelina Jolie (remember the infamous backward dress?) love Max Azria’s stuff, and so do I! Every time I go on a shoot, I am loaded with dresses from his line because they work on everyone. And when you roam the site or go into the store, there are so much great pieces that you will find yourself leaving with a full wardrobe for a season. There are accessories galore, shoes, handbags, evening wear, day dresses…I mean, if they offer you water, you never have to go home again!

YSL Speaks To Raf Rumors

Photos: Giuseppe Cacace / Getty Images (Simons); Julien M. Hekimian / Getty Images (Pilati)

After an International Herald Tribune article yesterday suggested Raf Simons would replace Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent, the French label released a statement today that said the rumors are “unfounded.” YSL also confirmed Pilati is hard at work on the upcoming YSL runway show. WWD notes, however, that it is understood that the designer’s contract with the house ends in March 2012 and he has yet to sign a renewal.

Holly Go Lovely

MaCoHa—no, it’s not some Manhattan neighborhood you’ve never heard of. It stands for the Malawi Council for the Handicapped, and it’s Holly Dunlap’s current cause célèbre and design collaborator. A little over two years ago, Dunlap discontinued her successful footwear and accessories line Hollywould and decamped to Africa. It was there that she met her Italian beau, who was building a school in Malawi, and decided to “trade one life in for another.” So she swapped the parties, manicures, and air conditioning in New York and Los Angeles for a 1984 Toyota Sprinter, no Internet, and the simple life.

Dunlap’s new label 4MaCoHa offers embroidered tunics ($95 to $150) and home goods ($65 to $595), which are all made from local Malawian cotton by MaCoHa’s disabled employees, who are deaf, blind, or have amputated limbs (the head patternmaker is a double amputee). At a preview for the label’s Resort launch collection yesterday, Dunlap explained that “because of witchcraft dogmas, people in Africa still think that if someone has a handicapped baby, then their family is cursed, and MaCoHa is about showing the country what [the] disabled can do.” Dunlap tried to stay true to traditional African designs (they’ve been making caftans since the seventies) and picked the bright color palette. She also added in a few personal references to the collection, like the hand-loomed rug that took over a week to make, which looks like the poster for 1960’s surf documentary The Endless Summer (Dunlap loves to hang ten). Dunlap’s goal is to create more employment opportunities for MaCoHa and to create a demand in the country for their own products instead of exporting everything. The MaCoHa artisans, who “were born smiling,” are enjoying their moment in the sun. “They look at themselves on the Web site and say, ‘That’s me!’,” Dunlap said. “They love a little bit of fame.”

Recessionista First Blood - UsMagazine.com

I don’t give a flip about vampires, but I’m suddenly being very influenced by anything Twilight and True Blood-related. This is very chic and bronze - which I can’t shut up about. It’s wicked fierce and basically unisexy, no? Purchase info: Buy it here.

There’s something oddly attractive, FABULOUS and dangerous about this eagle claw necklace, which was seen last night on True Blood. It’s by Pamela Love and available at the HBO Shop for $60! Not since the iconic flower and nameplate necklace from Sex and the City have I wanted to pick up the phone and order something connected to a TV show (well, maybe a ShamWow), but I think I want this.

Snag Kourtney Kardashian’s Spot-On Coat - UsMagazine.com

It’s the perfect piece to get through a grey winter. I like the loose fit, the shortened sleeves (all the more reason to wear long leather gloves) and the $163.78 price tag.

It’s been hard catching up with always-on-the-go Kourtney Kardashian. But it seems like every time she walks out the door, she wears something I want to emulate.

I really love her Funktional Predator Coat. It’s the perfect thing to make you smile. I like the cut, the look and the fit. At $840, it’s an investment piece that will never go out of style.

Wear it with a simple top, pencil skirt, black opaque tights and mid heel pump or high heel bootie.

For a more affordable version, I went on a long search for something that was as voluminous and not cropped. Lo and behold, I found this amazing Faux Fur Leopard Coat from Lipsy.

This must-have coat of the season hits the spot.

Prabal Gurung’s NYFW Diary

In the lead-up to New York fashion week, designers go through hundreds of behind-the-scenes preparations to arrive at the completed show. This NYFW, we’ve sweet-talked a few of them into giving us an exclusive peek behind the curtain as they cast, score, style, and ready their presentations. Next up: Prabal Gurung.

“A feathered piece being fit to a dress form.”

“Zana Bayne’s masterful harnesses will be used throughout the collection.”

“Doing my research—extra inspiration courtesy of my nearby YSL cologne.”

“My stellar team at work: Tiina Laakkonen, Didier Malige, Charlotte Tilbury, and all of the people that make it happen.”

“The early phase—a sketch and swatch before putting the look into work.”

“A fitting with the lovely Ginta.”

Review Puss in Boots - UsMagazine.com

Thanks to lively 3-D action and a frisky attitude, this Shrek spinoff is prime catnip for kids. But adults will scratch their heads at the bizarro plot. Here, the amorous feline (voiced with delight by Antonio Banderas) becomes a fugitive after getting betrayed by a devious, whiny Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis). Their squabbles — which date back to childhood! — last nearly 90 minutes. Shrek himself could have settled the whole thing in two.

Muses Make The Men

Not even the rain in New York this week stopped a divine crowd from gathering to celebrate the tenth anniversary of jewelry label Faraone Mennella. Divine being just the right word here. Designers Amedeo Scognamiglio and Roberto Faraone Mennella were inspired by Greek mythology for their recent collections, and to spotlight them, picked nine women to be photographed by Lorenzo Bringheli as the nine muses in their creations—one for each year in business (the tenth muse, they said, was New York itself). Giovanna Battaglia, Linda Fargo, Patricia Field, Olivia Chantecaille, Ann Caruso, Kimberly Jones, Nina Griscom, Carol Alt, and Pamela Fiori took on the roles. At the event, Chantecaille looked especially Olympian in a form-fitting beaded dress from Ferragamo. “I’ve been friends with Amedeo for years and I always tell him what I’m looking for my jewelry,” the beauty entrepreneur said. “Of course I was very flattered when he asked me to be part of this project.”
